Varispeed Privacy Policy
Effective November 5, 2026
Short version: Varispeed does not collect your personal data. Songs you open never leave your device. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. This policy covers the Varispeed iPhone app and the Varispeed website.
What stays on your device
- Songs. Songs you open are processed on your device and are never uploaded. The Library keeps copies of the songs you opened (up to 50 in the iPhone app, 12 on the website) so you can reopen them. Remove them anytime from the Library.
- Settings and saved versions. Your sliders, colors, presets and saved versions are stored on your device. You can turn remembering settings off under Look → Behavior.
- Exports. Exported files go only where you choose to save or share them.
- Delete everything. Use Delete all my data at the bottom of the Library. Deleting the iPhone app, or clearing the website’s data in your browser, also removes everything.
What we collect
Nothing. Varispeed has no server and no account system. We do not collect, sell, share or use your personal information for advertising, and we do not track you across apps or websites. Varispeed does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, photos library or location.
YouTube features
The optional YouTube panel uses YouTube API Services. By using it, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- If you connect your Google account: Varispeed gets read-only access to your YouTube channel name and picture, your playlists and your liked videos. It uses them only to show them to you inside Varispeed, and it cannot change anything on your account.
- Kept on your device: the access token Google issues (it stops working after about an hour) and a “Played here” list of up to 30 videos you played in Varispeed (video ID, title, channel and length). Each entry is deleted after 30 days. Playlists and liked videos are only held in memory while Varispeed is open.
- Shared: nothing with us or anyone else. Requests go directly from your device to YouTube and Google.
- Cookies: Varispeed sets none. YouTube’s player and Google’s sign-in may set their own, covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- YouTube videos play only in YouTube’s own player. Varispeed never downloads, records or changes YouTube audio or video.
- Removing access: tap your account picture in the YouTube panel, then Disconnect; this revokes access and deletes the YouTube data Varispeed kept on your device. You can also remove access on your Google Account permissions page.
Apple and web hosting
If you use the iPhone app, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics only if you chose to share them in your iPhone’s settings, under Apple’s own privacy policy. The website is served by a web host that may keep standard access logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security; we do not use them to identify you.
Keeping and protecting it
Everything Varispeed keeps stays in your device’s private storage for this app or website, protected by your device’s own security, until you delete it. Nothing is backed up to us. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to lose in a breach.
Varispeed does not respond differently to “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals because it never tracks you in the first place.
Children
Varispeed is suitable for everyone and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The YouTube features follow Google’s own age requirements for Google accounts.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because Varispeed keeps your data only on your own device and never collects it, you can exercise all of these yourself by using Delete all my data or deleting the app. We do not sell or share personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new effective date. Changes will never reduce your protections without asking you.
Open-source software
MP3 export uses lamejs, licensed under the GNU LGPL 3.0. Its license and the GPL 3.0 text are included with Varispeed (lamejs license, LGPL 3.0, GPL 3.0).
